The Unit Crest
MOTTO: A scroll of gold inscribed “NON DUCOR DUCO” → “I am not led, I lead”
SYMBOLISM:
Forest green and gold are the colors of Los Alamos High School.
The arrowhead denotes the perseverance of the unit through trying times, refusing to buckle and surviving, with the gray representing the balance between academic studies and other commitments that must be maintained in order to be successful.
The superimposed atomic symbol indicates the hand that Los Alamos had in the development of nuclear energy and the yellow shows our hope in utilizing this technology in a positive way.
The chevrons are indicative of the mountains that are our home with blue symbolizing the trust that every cadet has in each other.
The combined ship’s wheel and crossed rifles represent the Navy and Marine Corps team that is always ready to defend the security of our nation.
The Roman numerals “83” denote the birth year of our unit, 1983.
Lastly, at the top, above all and most important, is a bear, symbolizing the strength of the family that the cadets of Topper Company have always relied upon.
